Increasing capacity for maternal and pediatric clinical trials in Canada

Description: This session will discuss the landscape of pediatric and perinatal clinical trials in Canada. Dr. Kelly will share information on a new clinical trials training platform including fellowships with immersive work learning opportunities. Attendees will be invited to discuss their training needs and collaboration opportunities.
About the Speaker: Dr. Lauren Kelly is an Early Career Researcher and Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba. She is a Certified Clinical Research Professional and serves as the Clinical Trials Director for the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. Dr. Kelly completed a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Western Ontario and 2 postdoctoral fellowships at Mount Sinai and the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Kelly is the Principal Investigator for the Canadian Collaborative for Childhood Cannabinoid Therapeutics and the Clinical Pharmacology Lab. Her research program evaluates drug safety and effectiveness in children, lactation and during pregnancy. She has authored more than 60 publications in this field and holds more than $7 million in funding from a variety of public agencies, including holding both a SickKids-CIHR and Research Manitoba New Investigator Award.
